Summerfield Child Care is a day care and preschool center in Holtsville, New York. It offers care and education programs for children from infancy to school age. Owned and directed by Jennifer Schuierer, the center brings together teachers who are skilled and experienced in early childhood education. As a whole, it aims to give children the best possible learning experience, where they learn and play at the same time.

At Summerfield Child Care, it is our mission to provide a creative, nurturing and stimulating atmosphere in which children are active participants. We offer an environment where children feel free to explore their uniqueness while learning through play in a multi-sensory way. Our talented, energetic, and professional staff work together to positively impact the quality of life of the families in our community.
We believe education is based on beliefs about human development and human relationships. At the core is respect; for each person, for all life, and for their environment. Respect for each child’s uniqueness leads to trust, essential for learning and growth.
Each human is a uniquely endowed individual having a whole life in a whole learning environment. Teaching and learning are inseparable. Learning and growth are what happens when people work and play together. Learning about oneself is part of learning about others, not about winning or competition. Therefore, your child will not necessarily be bringing home a “project” each day. His or her entire day is a learning experience, whether it is on the playground or eating lunch. The process of learning is more important than the product.
Children need ample time and space to explore and work at their own pace and learning style. Classroom experiences are designed to encourage involvement and risk-taking using multi-sensory materials. As children make appropriate choices and are involved in their work, they acquire a positive attitude toward learning. Learning is great fun!
Our Mission
We at Summerfield Child Care commit ourselves to give the children of Holtsville, New York and beyond the best possible learning experience through our child-centered programs and skilled, experienced teachers.
Our Policies
- Please have an adult bring your child into the center in the morning and pick up your child in the afternoon. This is to ensure your child’s safety.
- Our center opens at 7:00 AM and closes at 6:00 PM.
- Late Pick-Up Fees: If your child is here after the center closes (6:00 PM), you will be charged $10.00 for every fifteen minutes thereafter.
- Vacations: There will be no reduction in tuition for absentee or vacation days.
- Late Payment Fees: Payments received after the 15th of each month will incur a $15.00 late fee.
- Switching Days: We do not switch your child’s registered days for another day. However, if you need an extra half or full day, that may be available to you at an additional fee.
- Please bring in an updated physical form from your pediatrician each time your child is inoculated.
- All medicine that needs to be administered to your child must have a doctor’s note and a parent’s note stating the type of medication, amount of medication, and time of day the medicine is to be given.
